How it all started...
The Congregation of Burkesville Baptist Church was first organized at the Cumberland County Courthouse on September 25, 1893, with nineteen charter members. At the time, the church had no permanent meeting place of its own until 1902, when they erected their first meeting house on Celina Street.
Expanding the vision...
The present church building was constructed in 1957 and completed in 1965. Burkesville Baptist Church has had many historical events including; the establishment of its first mission church, Branham Grove Baptist Church in 1940; erecting of the steeple in 1979; 75th anniversary in 1968 and 100th annivesary in 1993.
Where we are headed...
The Church currently has over 500 members and has many active mission groups and ministries. The Church is more than just a building; we are called to not just go to church but to be the church. BBC's mission and purpose is to be the hands and feet of Jesus and that is what we strive to do. We will go where God leads us and anxiously await the plans he has for us in the future.
